Glen Matlock is putting his own Sex Pistols story back in focus with I Was a Teenage Sex Pistol, a new autobiographical documentary based on his well-known 1990s memoir of the same name.
The film arrived on digital platforms for rent and purchase on May 26, giving viewers a closer look at Matlock’s role in the early Sex Pistols story, from the band’s formation to the music that helped define British punk. Matlock was the group’s original bassist and contributed to much of the songwriting on Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols.
In a recent interview, Matlock also addressed the band’s current chapter. The Sex Pistols are performing with Frank Carter as frontman, while Matlock made clear that a reunion with John Lydon is not expected.
The documentary adds another layer to a story that has been retold many times, this time centered on Matlock’s own account of the band, its tensions, and its lasting place in rock history.
