ABC/Jeff NeiraLinkin Park‘s landmark 2000 debut album Hybrid Theory turns 20 this fall, and to celebrate, the band has “some very special things planned” for throughout the year. It appears that the first of them has arrived.
On Tuesday, Linkin Park held a live-stream of never-before-released footage from a 2001 live show in San Diego. Not only that, but LP members Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn and Dave “Phoenix” Farrell provided running commentary of the show.
A lot of the comments dealt with the group’s very early-2000s look at the time, ranging from their died hair and onstage jewelry. At one point, Hahn jokes that the late Chester Bennington looked like “Eminem‘s fan from the ‘Stan’ video.”
You can watch the commentary video streaming now on YouTube.
With the video, Linkin Park is also raising awareness for the Roadie Rescue campaign, which supports road professionals who’ve been impacted by all the tour cancellations and postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The professionals in this business have played a large part in our ability to perform for you guys,” LP writes. “Many of these professionals are freelancers, who are facing an indefinite future without income. Join us in helping to raise money for these individuals.”
More Hybrid Theory 20th anniversary commemoration is in the works. You can contribute to the celebration by sending in photos, videos, ticket stubs and other memorabilia from the Hybrid Theory era at LinkinPark.com/FanSubmission.
