Metallica pushes Helping Hands charity show to September

Originally scheduled for March 28 at the Masonic in the metal group’s hometown of San Francisco, the concert will now take place on September 12, at the same venue.

Helping Hands, which first launched in 2018, will raise money for Metallica’s All Within My Hands charity foundation.

“A few of you may recall that in September as we were riding high on all the positive vibes that came out of the two S&M² shows, we were excited to announce that we had set aside March 28th to celebrate AWMH with all of you again,” Metallica writes in a statement.

The band continues, “However, we may have been a little too ambitious with that date in terms of getting our s*** together and giving you an experience that matches or surpasses the first event, held in November of 2018.”

Of note: the originally scheduled Helping Hands show was going to be frontman James Hetfield‘s first show back with the band since re-entering treatment for substance abuse issues last fall. His return to the stage will now be Metallica’s April 15 show in Chile.
