ABC/Eric McCandlessTool is a beloved, Grammy-winning rock band that’s sold millions of albums around the world. But now, they’ve finally earned one of the highest honors imaginable: being an answer on Jeopardy!
A clue about the alt-metallers appeared during Tuesday’s finale of the Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time tournament. It read, “In 2019, this hard rock band led by Maynard James Keenan released its first album in 13 years and it went to No. 1.”
Contestant James Holzhauer buzzed in with the correct response: “What is Tool?”
And that album, of course, would be Fear Inoculum, which was released last August, 13 years after its predecessor, 2006’s 10,000 Days.
Guitarist Adam Jones seemed to enjoy the shout-out, and posted a screenshot of the clue on his Instagram. In the caption, he quipped, “Who is Hoobastank, Alex?”
Tool is currently touring the U.S. in support of Fear Inoculum. The outing continues Wednesday night in Fresno, California.
