Cage the Elephant cancels European tour dates after guitarist suffers onstage injury

Credit: Neil KrugCage the Elephant has canceled a batch of European tour dates after the band’s guitarist Nick Bockrath suffered an onstage injury last weekend at the Pinkpop festival in The Netherlands.

According to a statement from Cage, Bockrath “badly” hurt his leg, which might be an understatement. The guitarist apparently has a ruptured PCL and a torn ACL — those are both ligaments in the leg — as well as a fractured tibia and a damaged meniscus.

“He tried to play through two shows, but he now requires immediate surgery and is currently getting the medical attention he needs,” the statement reads.

The canceled dates run from a June 12 show in Amsterdam to a June 20 stop in Paris.

Cage the Elephant has been touring in support of the band’s new album Social Cues, featuring the lead single “Ready to Let Go.” They’re scheduled to launch a co-headlining tour with Beck July 11 in Ridgefield, Washington.
